Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate - Everything You Need to Know

The cloud computing market is forecast to hit a whopping $411 billion by 2020, according to new research by CenturyLink and Statista. This progress has resulted in a huge increase in demand for qualified cloud administrators that’s only going to grow.

Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate certification was developed using advanced Job Task Analysis – this means you’ll learn the skills and knowledge relevant to becoming a successful Azure Administrator.

What’s covered?

This new Microsoft role-based certification spans many sections within the Azure cloud: storage, security, networking, compute capabilities, monitoring resources and handling requests for infrastructure, applications and environments.

It’s designed to cover all the skills, technical ability and hands-on experience that is expected of an Azure Administrator.

What’s in the exam?

Originally this certification was covered by Exam AZ-100 and Exam AZ-101. However, Microsoft have since announced that, “Starting on May 1, 2019, you will only need to pass one exam—AZ-103: Microsoft Azure Administrator—to earn this certification. This new exam combines the skills covered in AZ-100 and AZ-101, with the majority of the new exam coming from AZ-100.”

There is a transition exam to get this certification if you’ve taken the 70-533 Exam. Have a look at Microsoft’s detailed explanation on how to transition and certify depending on your past certifications.

The new AZ-103: Microsoft Azure Administrator exam will test your ability to accomplish the following Azure related tasks:
  • Manage Azure subscriptions and resources
  • Implement and manage storage
  • Deploy and manage virtual machines
  • Configure and manage virtual networks
  • Manage identities
