Google to Acquire Motorola Mobility

Internet giant Google has announced that a deal has been struck to acquire the Motorola Mobility for $12.5bn (£7.7bn). A joint statement said that the deal should be finalised by the end of this year, or 2012.

According to Google, the acquisition will allow them “supercharge” their Android operating system. Mobility will run as a separate business, they added.

“Motorola Mobility's total commitment to Android has created a natural fit for our two companies," said Larry Page, Google's CEO.
Sanjay Jha, his counterpart at Mobility, said: "This transaction offers significant value for [our] stockholders and provides compelling new opportunities for our employees, customers and partners around the world."

Cisco Shows Positive Signs

Cisco has managed to surprise the critics by delivering results better than expected. It's a clear indication that the demand of IT is rising again. The vendor’s success, though, hasn't come without a few difficult choices made by CEO John Chambers. They've had to review the under-performing areas, axe the job positions they could do without and have come up with a simplified ‘better performing’ organisation.

The vendor had earlier announced thousands of job cuts and planned to save an average of $1bn and year – at the same time though, the Chairman and CEO has ruled out sacrificing innovation to keep costs down. It seems that this approach has worked well for them – the vendor produced a 7.9% increase in net sales for the fiscal year.

Firebrand offers variety of Cisco courses, including CCNA, CCDA and CCENT.

Protect yourself before you wreck yourself...

Cyber attacks have become more dangerous than ever before. Our systems have never looked this vulnerable. Imerva has reported that web applications are attacked around 27 times per hour. Web sites are hit by automated attacks on average 25,000 times in just one hour (that's seven attacks a second). In a time where cyber criminals are getting cleverer and creating more sophisticated techniques to hack into your personal and business data, one has to be one step ahead of them.

Firebrand was the first to launch CEH v7 in the UK. The newest version of EC-Council's Certified Ethical Hacker Training includes an entire module on countermeasures, with detailed explanation of how to implement them in real life. There is also a complete section dedicated to penetration testing - the method of evaluating the security of a system or network by simulating an attack from a malicious source.

If you were the victim of a hack, your systems would need to be treated like any other crime scene. The affected area should be isolated, before the forensics begin. The role of the Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) is to determine the source of a hack, understand the damage caused, and to repair the damage. Make yourself a digital Sherlock on the CHFI course.

Decreased Time, Increased Salary

IT professionals are earning more than ever. Salaries have increased by 7.5% in 2011, compared to 2010. A report on Computing.co.uk reveals that average salary in the industry has increased from £43,000 to £46,000. As if that wasn’t enough, more than half of professionals receive a bonus, with the average payment now at 19% of their annual salary.

The IT industry is officially back on track.

Even during the height of the recession, Firebrand continued to grow. Time is money, and more and more professionals needed to spend little time outside the office and more time earning.

IT is booming and now is the time to grab your next IT cert. So why not get certified faster than anywhere else?
